This Privacy Policy applies to LINE Notification Enhancer for Android (package name cc.holey.linenotificationenhancer, the “App”), provided by holeyan (“we” or “us”). It explains how the App accesses, uses, retains, and deletes data.
Data summary
The App has no Internet permission. Data is processed only on your device and is not transmitted or disclosed to us or another company. The App contains no advertising, analytics, or third-party runtime libraries. We do not sell or share personal or sensitive user data.
Notification access and data processed
Android notification access can technically expose notifications from other apps. The App checks the source package first and processes only LINE notifications. To organize, preview, and enhance notifications—its core functionality—the App processes available message text, sender or conversation names, conversation type, message time, avatars, and links back to the original LINE conversations. This data is not used for advertising, analytics, credit decisions, or purposes unrelated to the App’s core functionality.
The App also requests Android notification permission to display enhanced conversation notifications. You may decline or revoke permissions at any time, but the related features will not work.
Message previews, retention, and security
The App keeps up to 50 conversations and 100 message previews per conversation in process memory. Preview auto-clear defaults to Never and can be set to 1, 3, 7, or 30 days after each message. Regardless of this setting, previews disappear when the App process stops. Conversation links and avatars also stay in memory. Messages are not written to an App database. Captured text can remain until the process stops, the configured auto-clear time passes, or you clear it manually even if its sender recalls the message in LINE.
Data is protected by Android’s app sandbox and private storage. No method of local processing can guarantee absolute security, however. Lock-screen notifications, screenshots, and recent-app previews can display visible message text; use Android lock-screen notification settings to control its visibility.
Data retained by Android
Android stores enhanced notifications separately, so they can remain after the App process stops. Notification auto-clear separately defaults to Never and can be set to 1, 3, 7, or 30 days after the latest message. On Android 11 and later, Android can also cache conversation shortcut names and avatars; shortcuts contain no message text or LINE links. The App periodically removes expired shortcuts and removes its conversation shortcuts when you clear previews or notification access disconnects. Android may temporarily retain this metadata while the App is stopped.
Settings stored on your device
The App stores your language, theme, color and icon choices, notification layout, preview and notification auto-clear choices, notification preferences, conversation identifier hashes, configured conversation names and types, enhancement settings, notification modes, and temporary mute end times in private Android preferences. Hashes identify conversations; they do not encrypt message content. LINE can change or reuse source identifiers, which can create a separate conversation entry or prevent the App from distinguishing conversations. The App excludes all App data from Android cloud backup and device-to-device transfer.
User-directed export and import
Only when you explicitly use “Export backup” does the App write selected settings and any message previews you choose to include to a .lne file at a location you select. Backup files are not encrypted and remain until you delete them; keep them private and do not share them with untrusted parties. Imports merge conversations, skip duplicate messages and previews outside the configured preview auto-clear time, and do not repost notifications. The App does not independently transmit backups. If you choose a cloud storage provider as the file location, that provider handles the file under its own terms.
Data sharing and third parties
The App does not transmit data to us, service providers, or other third parties. LINE and Android are third-party services and platforms governed by their respective privacy policies. The App is an independent tool and is not affiliated with, sponsored by, or endorsed by LY Corporation.
Your controls and data deletion
No account is required. Use Conversations → Clear all previews to remove captured messages, enhanced notifications, and conversation shortcuts; Reset per-chat controls to remove saved conversation settings and names; or delete an individual conversation’s history, settings, notification, and shortcut. These actions do not delete messages in LINE. You can also revoke notification access in Android Settings or uninstall the App to remove its private local data. You must separately delete any backup files you exported from the storage location you selected.
Children’s privacy
The App is not designed specifically for children. We do not collect or receive data from any user, including children. A guardian who wants to remove local data on a child’s device can use the deletion controls above or uninstall the App.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when features, data practices, or legal requirements change. The revised policy will be posted on this page with an updated effective date. Where required, material changes to data handling will also receive appropriate in-app notice.
